Machinist 1

In the role of Machinist 1, you will execute the production plan in line with the manufacturing schedule and work instructions, ensuring adherence to the Inspection Plan for product quality and maintaining quality records. You'll control tool inspection following compliant protocols and handle daily preventive machine maintenance while managing all machine-related needs. Your ability to read and understand customer prints and manufacturing drawings in English, coupled with the capacity to work unsupervised, will be crucial. Additionally, you'll complete assigned tasks from management, troubleshoot and solve minor to semi-complex issues, and conduct basic root cause.

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Production Manager, performs set-ups, and operates CNC or manual machines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for executing production plan according to manufacturing schedule and work instructions.
  • Responsible for controlling the Quality of products according to Inspection Plan and maintaining all quality records.
  • Responsible for controlling the inspection of tools according to compliant protocols
  • Maintains and performs daily preventive machine maintenance and supplies all machine-related needs.
  • Able to read and understand customer prints & mfg drawings in English. Able to work unsupervised at times.
  • Responsible for the completion of all other related or unrelated assigned tasks or duties from management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve minor to semi-complex problems and issues. Able to conduct minor root cause analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Machinist certificate a plus but not required.
  • Five or more years’ experience on CNC or Manual Machines in a Job Shop environment.
  • Two years’ experience reading, proving & debugging G-Code programs.
  • Level I Machinists must own their own comprehensive selection of tools and toolboxes.
  • Experience with measuring tools and adequate knowledge of ANSI Y14.5

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Level I Machinists must possess good communication skills which include but are not limited to the following – The ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and customer specifications. Also, must be able to effectively complete first-piece and in-process inspection paperwork. Level I machinists must possess the ability to effectively present information to top management, supervisors, peers, and subordinate-level employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Level I Machinists must possess the ability to comprehend and apply principles of modern algebra and trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Level I Machinists must possess strong mechanical and machining knowledge, as well as the ability to understand the impact of their actions on all product realization processes.
